Italian Fans Keep the Game Interesting

This year, the mantle for football fanaticism seems to have passed from England to Italy, as the Italians plays catch up enforcing discipline in the stands. For starters, we’ve had reports this year of fans using laser pointers to distract goalies. League referees promised to suspend last Saturday’s game between Inter and Juventus if the Juve fans didn’t behave, but their comments did not prevent on an on-field scuffle among players. Not to be outdone by Turin, Roman fans ‘celebrated’ with a fireworks display – on field and during the game – at the December 6 Rome-Lazio match. By the way, Roma won 1-0, while Juve defeated Inter 2-1. The standings:

Inter 35
AC Milan 31
Juventus 30
